Newsletter - Round 1

This is our first newsletter for the year and on behalf of the committee Minchinbury Jets Soccer Club committee I would like to welcome all of you to the 2021 season.

Whilst we will still have some COVID-19 conditions in place for year, this season promises to be a return to a more normal type of soccer season.

Good luck for the season ahead. We hope that you all have fun and enjoy your soccer this year.

Yours in soccer

The Minchinbury Jets Soccer Club Committee

The 2021 Season

This year we are back to a normal length season and are scheduled to play 18 rounds. With Easter next weekend, Round 1 will kick off on Friday 9th April for our Overs 35 Men and Over 30 Women, Saturday 10th April for our MiniRoos (5-11 years) and Junior Comp (excluding the 14 Girls), and Sunday 11th April for our All Men, All Age Ladies and Our 14 Girls. Our Premier League and Premier League 20's have already kicked off their year as they have a 21-round season. We look forward to seeing you all out on the field enjoying your soccer.

Coaches and Managers Meeting

Our club will be holding a coaches and managers meeting next Tuesday 30th March starting at 7:00pm. The meeting will be a briefing on what will be happening this season and (hopefully) an update on the new electronic match sheet that is in place for the 2021 season. We ask that one team official from each team attend if possible. If your team is training on Tuesday, night we ask that the manager attend the meeting.

Outstanding Registration Fees

The club will be holding payment nights at the club canteen at Minchinbury Reserve on Tuesday 30th March, Wednesday 31st March and Thursday 1st April from 6:00 - 7:00pm for players who still have outstanding registration fees.

Registration fees must be paid in full by Thursday next Thursday 1st April to guarantee that players will be eligible to play in round 1. If you are unable to attend one of these payment nights or are struggling please contact our club president, Stephen Bradbury, on 0419 170 717 to make other arrangement.

Uniform, Playing Strip & Club Gear

For those who need to purchase shorts and sock for the season, our uniform shop will be open on Tuesday 30th March, Wednesday 31st March and Thursday 1st April from 6:00 - 7:00pm

As well as having our uniform for sale, the club also has a range of club gear (polo shirts, jackets, caps, beanies, sweat bands etc) on display and for sale at the club canteen. EFTPOS facilities are available, and we can also accept Mastercard and Visa Card for purchases.

During the season, our uniform shop will be open during canteen hours. You can also purchase uniform and club gear online through the gear shop on our club website www.minchinbury jets.com

The Draw

The draw for the competition is still being worked on by Blacktown Soccer Association. The draw for the first few weeks of the season should be available by late next week. To view the draw, please go to our club website www.minchinburyjets.com and click on the 'Fixtures" link. Select the dates, our club, your team's age group and division or animal name. Once the draw for the season is available for viewing there can still be some changes made. We ask that you check the online draw on Thursday or Friday each week to ensure that your match time and venue has not changed. Please do not print out copies of the season draw as it can change, and you may end up missing kick-off times if you do this.

Do You Know Your Team, Coach and Manager?

In a club with around 400 players, it is difficult for our committee to be able to manage every player on an individual basis. Whilst we will make every effort to help our members, the committee is often busy on weekends and training nights organising games and other club activities. Some of our committee members also have kids who play or are involved in coaching and managing teams.

By now, all players of all teams should be aware of their team and have contact details of both the team coach and manager. If you do not have their contact details, please ask them, we are sure that they will be happy to provide them to you.

The same goes for training. All teams now have assigned training times and areas in which to train. These will generally remain the same throughout the season. There should be no players looking for their teams on their training nights.

Are Your Contact Details Up to Date?

All our team coaches and managers have player lists with contact details - phone and email address and (for junior players only) a parent / caregiver contact name & number. This information is drawn from your player registration records. We know that mobile numbers and email addresses can change from time to time. We ask that if you do change any of your details (including your address details) that you advise your team's manager so that they can update their contact list and then advise the club so that we can update your records.

Club Website

This season we have a new website and new website address. Our new website address is www.minchinburyjets.com. . If you have any suggestions for the website or our Facebook page, please send an email to the club through the email contact address on our website and the committee will consider your suggestion. The website contains links to the Blacktown Soccer Association website and contains all that you need to keep up with the latest in our club.

Wet Weather Information

In the event of wet weather, we will contact your team coach and manager as soon as we are made aware of ground closures. Our club website also has information on ground closure. Alternatively, you can call the Blacktown Council wet weather line on 9839 6575 or check out the Blacktown Council website on www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au. Players are asked to contact their team officials if they are unsure of ground closures. Please do not assume that matches are cancelled just because it's raining.

Club Newsletter

If you have changed or updated your email address, please email your new email details to Stephen Bradbury at steveandkerrib@bigpond.com and we will update your details to ensure that you receive the weekly newsletter and stay up to date with what is happening in the club. Please be assured that your email address will not be published or given to any other party.

That's all for now. Please feel free to offer any contributions to the next issue of our newsletter. Any contributions can be emailed to Stephen Bradbury at steveandkerrib@bigpond.com
